Some viruses such as that of the cold can be beaten, while other viruses such as the AIDS virus cannot. In either cases viruses are dead, but how does our body fight a virus if it is dead. The body becomes immune, but how? I understand the process by which it inserts DNA and RNA into living cells and these cells produce more viruses and functions are taken over but whats stopping the virus from going and going. What beats viruses?

The viruses aren't dead though. They just don't have DNA. You can either be vaccinated to beat a virus (like the flu) or you can treat the symptoms until your immune system cures you. Your immune system produces white blood cells which attack the virus in your system. Once that happens you get better. Also if you exposed to that same virus again, you will not become ill. The reason we keep getting colds, is because there are so many varieties of virus that cause the common cold. The more colds we get, the more of those viruses we become resistant to. This the reason children get more colds than teenagers and why teenagers get more colds than middle aged people. The older we get, the fewer colds we get. Some viruses like the flu (influenza) mutate. This is why you must get a flu shot each year, it is constantly changing. I know I have rambled a little, but again, it is our immune system and our white blood cells which help us to beat most viruses. Hope you find this helpful..even if it does ramble..lol

Virus can never be cured...It can only be treated...
Cold virus and cough virus are always in our body...taking meds can just treat them and make them go away just for a while...but it is always going back.
