I was always curious, what is it with viruses that we cant find a cure for them?? eg. herpes, HIV.....there has been a major advancement in drugs in the last yrs but we are still affected by viruses...oh yeah what about that HPV viruses how come we found a vacinne for that??
Viruses and their cure?viruses
we didn't find a vaccine for HPV per se, we have a vaccine which immunizes against 4-6 strains of HPV responsible for 70-90% of genital warts and cervical cancer. Big difference, as there are dozens of HPV strains. The vaccine is also only approved for women, so men are SOL for now at least.
The bigger answer to your question is very complicated, and much more complex than can really be answered here--particularly with little to no background in biology or microbiology. But viruses themselves are very complicated organisms, and are much more unique per species than bacteria. It is quite possible we won't see cures for diseases you listed in our lifetime.

Unfortunatly viruses are in our environment. The only way to stop the spread of the communicable ones is through cleanliness. We can't even see viruses they are so tiny. They are not like bacterias. Take a General Biology course, that'll help you get your answer.

When discussing viruses you need to understand that they mutate into different strains and become resistant.
viruses have capsules as their outer layer. the capsules enclose the genetic strains. a HIV virus for example have 4 layers of capsules. on the surface of the capsule are proteins receptors of different types. different layers have different sets of receptors. the receptors are like lock and key. if you can identify the receptor, then your body can find a way to resist the virus, and thus destroying the virus.
however, it is important to note that virus have mutate very rapidly. that is, they change their genetic materials very often. for example, there are millions of flu virus strains. that is why you can always get flu again eventhough your body have already fight the previous flu virus.
anyway, virus are also very hard to counter as it is not really a living organism, in a sense that it does not perform living processes like respiration or any type of metabolic reaction. it is like a vessel for a DNA or an RNA strains. its only purpose of existance is to deliver these genetic strains to the host's cell and reproduce.
