HELP! There are viruses in my laptop.?

i've read several yahoo answers about this, but sorry, as i'm not too good with this kind of thing, i couldn't really understand any of them.

first, i don't know where did i get those viruses, and i use windows xp.

second, i have three anti-viruses here in my laptop. it's synmatec, avast, and avira. i know, it's not good to have too many antiviruses. so what's the best antivirus shall i use?

third, please tell me how to erase these viruses because they couldn't be erased. synmatec can only quarantined them. some people say it's enough, but the viruses kept infecting other files, even my friends, through MSN. can those viruses infected my pictures, songs, videos? because some people said that trojan can't.

fourth, if re-formating my laptop would be the best way, is it safe to copy all of my files to cds or something? is it possible that some of my files have been infected too?

i really need your help, because i barely know anything about this. thank you so much before.
