Well...i have a thought...i always think that viruses are living organisms...and i have reasons...first...viruses multiply and reproduce in a host's cells and reproduction is a characteristic of living organisms...second...viruses have DNA and a genetic coding and only living organisms have genes and DNA...so that is y i think they are living organisms...if they are not then...how come they have DNA and genes??, what do u ppl think? give reasons for your answer
Are viruses living organisms or not? and why?antivirus software
yes viruses r the living organisms.b'coz these r the type of germs which are responsible for communication of diseases. they are the disease carriers which goes on multiplying and are strong enough to spread the germs .as we know that viral diseases can only be cured after an anti viral prescription(medicines). so they have to be killed for cure. hence viruses are the living organisms
Are viruses living organisms or not? and why?computer virus
As far as I know they're not considered living organisms. There are arguments for it, and against it, so it's really not an easy thing. But they don't really live on their own. When they are not in a host there is no reproducing etc. They can't LIVE on their own, so I think the answer is no.
I've been taught that they're living when they're in the process of reproduction, but otherwise they're either just ''viruses'' or ''biological material.'' I was never too satisfied with that definition, but it never really mattered, so I don't think about it too much.
I have always heard they are neither living nor non-living because they meet most of the criteria for living organisms, but not all. Although, it does seem like they are still achieving those ends even if they do have to use a host cell to reproduce and metabolize. But since all living things have to meet all those criteria and viruses don't, they're not alive.
Not.
