i hope you removed all the pesky things from your computer Report It

use limewire or a torrent downloader and download norton antivirus 2005 with keygen. 2005 is the last version to be able to use a keygen and it wont revert to a trial version. Plus it updates with all latest virus protection. also x cleaner to be used weekly.you can google that.
I used store bought Mcaffee for two years. It seemed to be ok, but I got tired of getting notices 6 mo. in advance that my contract was about to expire. My computer guru suggested I use Avast and I like it. All scanning is done in real time in the back round. As soon as I get a pop up notice of a problem, it gives me directions on how to clear it. Best of all it's FREE! I'm also using Ad-ware. I've heard a lot of negative stuff about Norton. My suggestion would be to ask a reputable computer dealer what they recommend. Good luck!
Free antiviruses are uneffective as usual. Think twice before defending with free software. Personally I recommend Kaspersky antivirus. I use and update it for three years and was not infected a single time.
OK from download.com there is a free versions of spy wear and other free anti viruses download it
This site has a good list of free antivirus, antispyware, firewall, and pop up blockers, have fun http://www.basicspywaretips.com/

Whats the diffrence with scanning for viruses in safe mode and when not in safe mode?

i know some viruses cant be deleted in normal mode but can it also be that if you scan for viruses in normal mode it wont detect some viruses? so in other words if i scan my pc for viruses well it show different results if i scan for viruses in normal mode or safe mode?

answer this question the best and ill pick you as the best answer

Whats the diffrence with scanning for viruses in safe mode and when not in safe mode?auto protect

sometimes a virus is not only on your drive but opened by windows and running in background. When you boot up in the safe mode only drivers and programs needed to run windows in it's basic mode are installed. If you run virus detector in safe mode and find a virus you should be able to delete since it is not in use. If you had booted up normally the virus would of been running making it harder to delete it. Most times when a virus is found and in use it has to be rebooted so windows can delete the virus before it boots all the way up into the desktop.

.

Whats the diffrence with scanning for viruses in safe mode and when not in safe mode?downloads

In safe mode, the computer loads only the basics that it needs to run, such as basic display drivers, mouse drivers, and basic systems. In many cases, a virus will not run unless the complete operating system starts up, which occurs when you do a normal boot. By running in safe mode, the virus might not run, which means that it cannot protect itself from the anti virus software, thus allowing you to get rid of it.
when your in safe mode your offline, to any progs phoning home for help,so the anti virus can remove any bad stuff and it can't use online resources to hide somewhere else

Why is my computer prone to viruses?

My computer has become very slow. I think it may due to some virus attacks. I read from a site that a few anti-virus programs installed on a computer will help reduce risk of spywares. I have installed AVG and Windows Defender too. But within days, my computer was infected by viruses already. I am an active downloader, and the fact that my computer's working slow, i do not get to open even a webpage at all! I do not know whether my computer working slow is really due to virus attacks, but I really need help on how to speed up my computer and reduce risks on virus attacks. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Why is my computer slow? I bet you have asked yourself that very question time and time again. And for the most part, you probably just can not figure it out. Ask the guy next to you, and they probably don鈥檛 have the foggiest idea either. I mean, you may get the 鈥渟pyware, virus鈥?answer, but this most likely is not the case.

The first place I check when my computer starts to run slower is the registry. Yes, the registry. Most people don鈥檛 even know what, or where the registry is, and especially don鈥檛 understand how this can slow a computer down. Let me explain.

Basically, the registry files contain information and settings for all of the software, hardware, operating system software, and anything else running on your computer. Mess any of these files up, and the computer does not know how to function. The computer goes to start up the software, looks for the registry files, and either can not find it or finds something that does not look like it is suppose to look like. It then just sits there: it does not know what to do next. This is where the 鈥渉anging鈥?or 鈥渓ocking up鈥?of your computer comes from. These files will need to be fixed.

Viruses on a mac???

Ok so i recently scanned my mac and it found ''infected files''

I've heard that you can't get viruses on a mac but I'm a little skeptical because if there are people smart enough to hack into ''secure'' data bases such as the governments is it unthinkable that there could be viruses for the mac??

Basically I'm stressing can anyone tell me what i need to do with these files or a program thats free (lol) and can help me out??

Thankyou guys!

Viruses on a mac???antivirus software

Thea, what your Mac found, would most likely be infected file intended to harm Windows operating system. I know, I have scanned my Mac and found several files, all of them are .exe files which are harmless to Macs, but would be disastrous if they find their ways to Windows PCs.

I don't know which virus scanner you are using, but I find ClamXav, a free Mac virus scanner to be great. It's similar to Windows' Avast. Quite efficient, with frequent definition updates.

As for your infected file, I'd just delete it.

Viruses on a mac???computer virus

there are viruses written for mac but they are far fewer than for pc you need to get an antivirus i use clamav
Try Avast for a free download, also Norton sells a version for Mac.
Its not true you can get viruses on a mac there just alot more rare. Im not to sure of a program thought sorry =[.
There are viruses for macs. There are a couple thousand viruses for macs. The reason people say that there are none for macs because this is being compared to about 1 million with more being created every day. If your scanner found virus(es), you should probably remove the file(s) or at least quarantine them because there is still a chance that it is a virus. Good luck.

    Viruses and Spyware....yikes!!?computer security

This is hard or can be easy this happened to me as well . First off if you have Norton security you may need to change the setting to high operation if not try to see the properties of your anti virus program . It also could be that you need to update your anti virus program . If it still wont work go to rogers.yahoo.com and get a person from the company of rogers do automatically do it online from there database .
