Are viruses becoming a thing of the past?

It seems like I never hear anything on the news anymore about computer viruses attacking, like I used too... And a lot of companys are working hard every day to make there anti-virus software better like Norton, and Microsoft.

Are viruses becoming a thing of the past? Are new viruses ever ever released anymore? Are they even still struggleing with this anymore?

If they are getting them under control then whats the point of me learning ASM so I can make my own viruses..?

Most definitely not!

Remember this when the next big one hits: Every little thing that man creates has a pattern. There is nothing random about man. As long as man acts logically and creates software algorithms on purpose, they can be reversed. Hacking computers is easier today than ever. The one thing that prevents real virus writers from acting out is the fact that the software, computer economy is strong. Most of those emotional hackers are employed right now.

Wait for an economic recession that lays off a bunch of silicon valley guys. They'll be back.

The more Microsoft realizes its dream of connectivity, the more vulnerable Windows will be.

Security is a state of mind, not found in any operating system.

I'll think we're more secure when Quantum computing comes along. That will probably seal the fate of most viruses.

NO!!! in fact they are getting tougher and harder to detect! DON'T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN!!!!!!

The reason you don't hear much about them anymore is because anti-virus software has improved and they get destroyed before they're spread too far.
